The new Nevercold TUNDRA vest replaces the previous Nevercold ASPEN vest, which has been on the market for 10 years. The TUNDRA vest is completely similar in cut and materials to the ASPEN, but its technology has been completely renewed. The power of the TUNDRA heating system is 12.5 W (ASPEN 9.6 W), and the battery capacity is 36 Wh (ASPEN 19 Wh). Operating time at full heating power is 2.5 h (ASPEN 2 h) and at lowest heating power 8 h (ASPEN 5 h).
The charging input of TUNDRA's battery is USB C type, so the battery can be charged with any charger/charging cable that has a USB C connector at the output. In addition, instead of the previous mains charger, the vest is supplied with a special charging cable, which has both USB A and C connectors at the end on the charger side, and a USB C connector at the end going to the battery. By using this cable, the TUNDRA's battery can be charged with practically any USB A or USB C charger.
NEVERCOLD Tundra is an efficient and versatile high collar thermal vest. Its four large but thin heating elements distribute the heat evenly to both the chest and back, which significantly improves comfort. The large upper back heating element is no less than 20 x 22 cm in size, and the chest and lower back heating elements are 20 x 11.5 cm in size.
The NEVERCOLD Tundra heated vest has a multi-layer construction that ensures the best possible performance in all conditions. The outermost layer of the vest is a microfleece fabric made of polyester, with a wind insulation membrane underneath. The inner layer is a mesh lining. The thin and inconspicuous heating elements made of red microfiber fabric are placed between the mesh lining and the wind insulation membrane, i.e. as close as possible to the user's body to minimize heat loss.
The NEVERCOLD Tundra thermal vest gets its energy from a small but efficient lithium-ion battery, which has its own inconspicuous place in the vest's battery pocket. The battery is charged using any charger with a USB A or USB C output (e.g. a mobile phone charger) with the charging cable supplied with the vest. Charging the battery consumes only about 0.05 kWh of energy, so even at very high (50 c/kWh) electricity prices, the charging cost is only two to three cents.
NEVERCOLD Tundra vest has two battery pockets. By getting an additional battery, you can use two batteries at the same time, which doubles the operating time of the vest.
The NEVERCOLD Tundra heat vest has a three-stage temperature control. The heating intensity is selected with the push button on the left chest of the vest. The color of the light on the push button indicates the selected heating intensity. At full power, the temperature of the heating elements is 52 °C and the operating time is about 2.5 hours. At the lowest power, the temperature of the heating elements is 38 °C and the operating time is about 8 hours. If you use two batteries at the same time, the operating time at full power is about 5 hours and at the lowest power about 16 hours. The heating can be turned off completely at the push button when it is not needed.
The heating properties of the NEVERCOLD Tundra thermal vest are at their best when worn directly over the underwear layer. In this case, the heating elements are as close as possible to the body. The vest should also have a tight fit so that there is not too much of an air layer between the body and the vest. Too much looseness of the vest reduces the feeling of warmth experienced by the user.
The NEVERCOLD Tundra thermal vest can also be used to dry an undershirt that gets wet when sweating, without having to take off the shirt. About half an hour of heating at full power is usually enough to dry the shirt.
